Blake Dorr

Blake Dorr founded The Dorr Law Group after counseling numerous Fortune 500 companies and startups on intellectual property matters for almost 20 years. Blake’s mission is to provide committed service to smaller and medium sized companies having unique intellectual property needs.

Blake counsels clients in patent prosecution and intellectual property matters, and he regularly helps Asian and European companies protect their IP rights in the United States.

Blake has broad experience prosecuting patents and writing opinions in a number of technology areas including computers and software, mainframe operating systems, telecom systems, mobile technology, electrical circuits, control systems, semiconductor fabrication, mechanical technology, gas turbine engines, diesel engines, petroleum drilling equipment, automotive technology, rocket engines, paper products and paper product manufacturing, packaging, and autonomous vehicles.

In addition to working in other firms prior to founding The Dorr Law Group, Blake practiced law in the Tokyo office of Onda Techno, a Japanese intellectual property firm. His experience working in Japan gives him a unique insight into IP in the Asian region.

Blake received his juris doctorate from Washington & Lee University. He has a degree in control systems engineering from the United States Naval Academy. He is also a member of the Patent Bar and the Georgia and Virginia state bars.

Before law school, Blake received his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy and served overseas on a minesweeper and on a destroyer.

Blake volunteers his legal services as a Veteran’s Court appointed advocate, and assists homeless persons with legal issues.
